Five Newcastle United players are expected to depart next month, as a £20 million transfer has been finalised. Several Newcastle United players are approaching the conclusion of their contracts with the club, playing their final three games.

As things currently stand, Newcastle United are expected to lose several players next month, as they have one significant transfer exit and several contracts that are set to expire.

Fabian Schar, Martin Dubravka, and Emil Krafth have been awarded new one-year contracts by Newcastle. Eddie Howe confirmed last week that Sean Longstaff is under contract until June 2026, with the club activating an extension clause at the beginning of the year. Newcastle has maintained a relative level of secrecy with respect to specific new contracts in recent seasons.

In recent seasons, Kieran Trippier, Eddie Howe, and Jamaal Lascelles have all received extensions without any formal announcement from the club. It is also believed that Callum Wilson has an extension option in his current contract; however, his future is uncertain. Callum Wilson Wilson’s future at Newcastle is uncertain, as he has only appeared in one Premier League match for the club during the 2024-25 season.

The 33-year-old has encountered numerous injuries and has not scored a league goal for the club in more than a year.Newcastle has the option to extend his stay; however, it is unlikely that they will exercise it. The alternative is that they may provide Wilson with a new contract with reduced terms to account for his diminished role in the team over the past 18 months.

Jamal Lewis Jamal Lewis has been reinstated from a loan stint at Sao Paulo and is expected to depart Newcastle as a free agent this summer. The Brazilian team had the option to extend the loan of the left-back, but they chose to do so in January due to an injury. The 27-year-old was unexpectedly included in Newcastle’s 25-man Premier League roster for the second half of the season.

However, he has not been included in any matchday squad, as academy players Sean Neave and Leo Shahar were selected over him. Lewis’ inclusion in the first-team squad was justified by Howe, who informed The Gazette that “Jamal is currently receiving treatment for an injury, but he is not receiving treatment at this location.” In my opinion, the inclusion of him in the squad was merely a formality that we were required to fulfil.

The Premier League has clarified that clubs are not legally obligated to identify players in their squad; however, it is recommended that they name any eligible player they can if they are below the 25-man limit. John Ruddy Ruddy is in a comparable situation to Gillespie; however, he has been relegated to the substitute on eight separate occasions since his free transfer last summer.

He has yet to make his competitive début for the club; however, at 38, his responsibilities are primarily confined to the training ground. Mark Gillespie Mark Gillespie, the custodian, has been at Newcastle for the past five seasons without any genuine opportunity to play for the first team in the Premier League.

He is a well-liked figure on the training ground and behind the scenes, and he has frequently signed new contracts shortly before his previous contracts were set to expire. Currently, it is anticipated that he will become a free agent during the summer. However, it is not yet impossible for him to negotiate an additional contract.

Lloyd Kelly Lloyd Kelly signed a five-year contract with Newcastle as a free agent last summer, with an estimated weekly salary of £100,000. However, he was loaned out to Juventus in January after being granted limited first-team opportunities at Newcastle. Kelly had been a consistent member of the Juve squad since his debut,

until he sustained a recent injury. Kelly is required to be acquired by the Serie A club in the summer, with a total cost of approximately £20 million, which includes the initial loan fee. The agreement is contingent upon performance-related criteria; however, Newcastle sources have informed The Gazette that the club anticipates Kelly’s irreversible transfer to Juventus in the summer.
