Greg Taylor Responds to Talk of Reuniting With Ange Postecoglou at Celtic After Greek Move

Former Celtic defender Greg Taylor has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a sensational return to Parkhead alongside his former boss Ange Postecoglou, describing such talk as “too hypothetical.”

Taylor left Celtic a little over a year after Postecoglou’s own departure, rejecting a new contract offer before sealing a move to PAOK Thessaloniki in Greece. Since joining the Greek Super League side, the 26-year-old full-back has made five appearances and quickly settled into his new surroundings.

Postecoglou, meanwhile, finds himself out of work after being sacked by Nottingham Forest last weekend. The Australian coach, who guided Celtic to a historic domestic treble before joining Tottenham Hotspur and later Forest, remains a revered figure among Celtic supporters.

With Postecoglou’s future uncertain, some fans have floated the idea of a dramatic return to Celtic — and possibly bringing Taylor with him. However, when asked about the possibility during an appearance on The Scottish Football Social Club, Taylor couldn’t help but laugh.

“Jesus, so many hypotheticals there,” Taylor joked. “Right now, Brendan’s the manager and doing an amazing job, and who knows what will happen come the end of the season for a guy I’ve got so much respect for.”

The Scotland international was quick to reiterate that his focus remains firmly on his new chapter in Greece.

“I’ve just signed a contract with PAOK and I’m excited to try and make a success of it,” he continued. “So I think the hypotheticals are a long way away.”

Taylor enjoyed immense success during his time at Celtic, playing a key role in one of the most dominant periods in the club’s history. He lifted five Scottish Premiership titles, three Scottish Cups, and three League Cups, also contributing heavily to the club’s Quadruple Treble achievement.

As for Postecoglou, his time at Celtic was equally triumphant. The Australian won two Premiership titles, two League Cups, and a Scottish Cup, sealing a world-record eighth domestic treble before leaving for the Premier League.

Taylor’s comments underline both his admiration for his former boss and his determination to carve out success abroad — while also showing respect for current Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, who is under pressure to turn around his side’s recent poor form.

For now, any talk of a Parkhead reunion remains firmly in the realm of fantasy. But given the pair’s winning history together in Glasgow, fans could be forgiven for dreaming of one more chapter in their Celtic story.
