Football Pundit Kris Boyd’s openly criticise Celtic head coach Brendan Rodgers with some strong claims after reigning praises on Rangers manager Russell Martin

Kris Boyd is a pundit who is deeply unpopular with most Celtic supporters.

The ex-Rangers striker seems more interested in taking cheap shots at Celtic than providing genuine analysis on performances or tactics. His commentary often comes across as dismissive and immature whenever Celtic or Rangers are the subject. Now, the Sky Sports pundit has taken a strange swipe at Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers had recently stepped in to defend Rangers boss Russell Martin against criticism from the media, something that oddly seemed to irritate Boyd. In response, Boyd threw out a jibe at Rodgers, saying the Celtic manager has “more faces than Big Ben.”

It’s worth pointing out that Rodgers was only answering a journalist’s question about Martin’s treatment. He didn’t randomly bring it up himself, which makes Boyd’s criticism seem even more peculiar.

Speaking on Go Ballistic, Boyd claimed:

“You talk about having more faces than Big Ben – that’s exactly what Brendan Rodgers did on Friday at his press conference. Nobody was speaking about the Celtic board after the weekend. He didn’t need to answer those questions, but he turned it around. People will say Rodgers was taking a dig at Rangers’ former coaching team, which he was. But it was clever because he shifted the focus away from Celtic entirely.”

So, what did Rodgers actually say that annoyed Boyd so much?

At his Celtic press conference, Rodgers commented:

“I always pay attention to what other managers or ex-managers are saying, especially those who’ve been in that position and should know better. Unless you’ve walked in a manager’s shoes, you don’t really understand what that person is going through. And if you have been in that position, you should show more respect because you know how difficult it is, the challenges you face, and the things you simply can’t make public.”
