weekend, Herrera’s Houston Dynamo competed in MLS playoff action against the Seattle Sounders. With the match at a standstill at 0-0, he was ejected for spitting at the on-field referee; the incident was initially overlooked, but VAR intervened to enforce the dismissal.
The Houston Dynamo were eliminated from contention for the 2024 MLS Cup after losing in a penalty shootout. Days after the incident, it has been reported that Herrera would go, as his contract will not be extended.
