Former Celtic player Kieran Tierney break silence to answer the question if leaving to Arsenal was worth it
Celtic fans have been talking about Kieran Tierney for about a week now.
After it was revealed that a £10 million fee was enough to buy the Scotland left back from Arsenal, Celtic fans have talked about how great it would be for the “Invincible Treble hero” to come back to Paradise.
With Tierney now representing Steve Clarke’s Scotland at the Euros, the rumors about him are likely to keep going as he plays for Scotland in Germany.
Scotland’s first game at Euro 2024 is on Friday night against the host country. Tierney is expected to start for Clarke, which is very different from his current role with Arsenal’s first team.
The player who used to be a regular on the Celtic first team must be frustrated at being on the fringes at Arsenal. He was asked if he regrets moving to North London in 2019.
At Celtic, Tierney was “living the dream.”
Tierney moved from Celtic to Arsenal in 2019 for a club record £25 million. He got off to a good start at the Premier League club, but since season 2022/23, he hasn’t been as important to the first team.
Yes, injuries have played a part, but so did Oleksandr Zinchenko’s play, which Tierney found hard to stop. (Transfer Market)
After getting hurt again during his season-long loan at Real Sociedad, Tierney is now back at Arsenal and says he doesn’t regret making the big-money move.
Tierney told The Athletic, “I don’t feel bad about it.” I knew my life would never be the same after it, but I still miss it.
“I was living my dream.”
“Being a football player is a dream come true, but playing for Celtic was the best.” I left that to test myself against the best players in the Premier League. Would you like to see how I did?
A possible “different” return to Celtic for Kieran Tierney
As I already said, rumors about Tierney going back to Paradise were going on all season long last year.
Brendan Rodgers talked about Tierney’s problems with Arsenal at the start of the last SPFL season, after rumors in the summer that he might go back to Celtic.
Now that those rumors have come up again, the Arsenal star has talked about what would be “different” if he went back to Parkhead.
Tierney went on, “If I go back, I want to feel the same way I did the first time.”
“Being away from the game for so long has changed me as a player, but I wouldn’t want to go back if I wasn’t feeling 100% in my body.”
“I know how hard it is to win, so if I do go back, it will be while I’m still in good shape.”
Kieran Tierney would be a great addition to Glasgow’s left back line if he were to return there. He would give Greg Taylor much-needed company.
There is no question that most Celtic fans would love to see Tierney back in the green and white hoops. His wages and history of injuries are the two biggest worries about a possible return.
