Manchester United beat Southampton 3-0 at St. Mary’s Stadium, but the judge was questioned about two calls.

Dermot Gallagher, a former referee in the Premier League, has backed match official Stuart Attwell after two very bad calls in Manchester United’s 3-0 win over Southampton on the South Coast.

Around the halfway point, Diogo Dalot was sent off for what looked like a foul on Tyler Dibling inside the area, which put Attwell in the center. Some people might have thought Dalot got a raw deal, but Gallagher told Sky Sports’ Ref Watch that the person in the middle made the right call.

He said, “I think it’s a clear foul.” “You slide like that, and he doesn’t get the ball.”

“I believe it’s only inside the box.” The judge made the right call.

Luckily for United, Andre Onana made a great save on Cameron Archer from 12 yards out, which turned the tide of the game in their favor. After five minutes, Matthijs de Ligt scored with a beautiful shot to put United ahead. Marcus Rashford then made it two with a curling effort.

The game slowed down in the second half. His men, led by Erik ten Hag, didn’t have to shift gears to beat their opponents. Attwell lost favor with the home fans when he sent off Jack Stephens for a hard hit on Alejandro Garnacho in the 79th minute.

The referee gave a straight red card, which made the home fans and Gallagher laugh for a moment. Even so, the former referee praised Attwell for his quick thought after seeing replays of the incident.

He finally said, “I don’t mind a ref taking time.” “When I saw it live, I thought it was yellow, and when I saw it again, I thought the ref was right.” Thanks to the judge.

As soon as the Saints were down to ten men, they gave up even more. Garnacho dusted himself off to score the third goal on a great afternoon for Liverpool. On Tuesday night, United will play again when they host Barnsley in the Carabao Cup.
