Erling Haaland, a striker for Manchester City, is now widely regarded as one of the best center forwards in Europe.
The Norwegian player joined City in the summer of 2022, having scored 86 goals in 89 games for Borussia Dortmund.
That was back in 2012, and Haaland has scored 90 goals in 98 games across all categories, winning many trophies along the way.
One former Premier League star has said that there is a scorer playing in Saudi Arabia who he thinks is better than Haaland, even though Haaland has won two Golden Boots in a row.
Karim Benzema is picked by Hugo Lloris over Erling Haaland.
Hugo Lloris was in a winner-stays-on challenge in a film that was recently posted to the official Goal TikTok channel. He had to pick between certain past and present strikers based on who he thinks is better.
The former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper was asked to choose between Haaland and Karim Benzema at one point in the film.
Because of this, Lloris chose Benzema over the City star, who Jan Aage Fjortoft recently predicted would score 45 goals this season.
Haaland vs. Benzema
Together, Benzema has played 825 games for Olympique Lyon, Real Madrid, and Al-Ittihad, scoring 433 goals and setting up 200 others.
The 36-year-old has been a top striker for a long time, as evidenced by the many local and European titles he has won, including five Champions Leagues.
The truth is that Benzema won the Ballon d’Or in 2022, one year before Haaland came in second place to Lionel Messi in 2023.
Even though these two strikers are at different stages of their lives, it’s hard to choose between them. However, we think Lloris chose his fellow Frenchman as the safe choice, while many City fans would say Haaland is better right now.
