Wilfried Nancy continues to be mentioned as a possible candidate for the Celtic managerial role, though the Columbus Crew boss has already spoken about his plans for the future.
The French coach, who has guided his side to major success in MLS, insists he’s content in Ohio but hasn’t ruled out the idea of managing abroad in the future. Having led Columbus to the 2023 MLS Cup and being named 2024 Coach of the Year, Nancy’s rise has made him one of the most respected names in North American football — naturally attracting attention from Europe, including Celtic.
Known for his calm demeanor and focus, Nancy rarely engages in speculation. However, his earlier comments offered some insight into his mindset. He’s happy with his current role but admits he could one day return to Europe — or even take on a challenge in Africa.
“I’m happy in Columbus, and after that, we’ll see. I come from Europe, so maybe. I can also coach in Africa,” Nancy told Record Sport.
For Celtic, he fits the profile of an ambitious, modern coach with a clear philosophy and player development focus — but for now, Nancy seems determined to finish his work in the U.S. before making any moves.
