“From what I have heard,” Stefan Borson provides an update on the Man City 115 allegations. After receiving 115 allegations over two years ago, Manchester City
is still awaiting the outcome of their legal dispute with the Premier League. An independent commission hearing into the case commenced in September of last year and concluded in December. The tribunal is currently in the process of determining its verdict.
The Premier League champions are accused of violating the financial fair play (FFP) regulations for a nine-year period and of obscuring payments through third parties by misrepresenting them as sponsorship revenue. Football Insider was exclusively informed by former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson that the two parties should have provided a published timeline for the decision’s disclosure. Borson had previously informed Football Insider
that Man City could be subjected to a second hearing if they are found culpable of any of the charges. The Manchester giants’ attorneys are anticipated to file an appeal against any potential consequence, as the club has maintained that they have not committed any wrongdoing since the charges were issued in February 2023.I believe that this could have been mutually agreed upon by all parties. From the outset,
I have maintained that a published timetable, at the very least, should have been provided. This schedule should have included approximate dates for the hearing, the decision, the subsequent phase, and an explanation of the process. “At present, you are in a situation in which it is possible for it to occur at any moment.” This is a matter of great importance not only for the future of football but also for the future of Manchester City employees.
It is reasonable to assume that if a significant amount of this information is against City, then adjustments to City’s cost base would be necessary. As we have seen from the events at United, these adjustments can involve real people and real jobs. “I do not believe that the matter has been adequately addressed in that regard, and I do not believe that there was a significant issue with
providing additional information regarding the anticipated release date of the decision.” “We are seated here today contemplating the possibility of releasing it this week.” It is conceivable that the release could occur next week. However, it is equally possible that this will not be released until the summer or even later, so we are truly uncertain.
