Marco Silva reflected on the outcome of Man Utd’s 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.
Marco Silva is of the opinion that Manchester United’s goal against Fulham on Sunday should have been disallowed.
In the 58th minute at Craven Cottage, United broke the deadlock when Rodrigo Muniz deflected Leny Yoro’s header into the net. Silva is of the opinion that his defender was fouled in the build-up, as Yoro engaged in a skirmish with Calvin Bassey prior to winning the header.
In the 73rd minute, Emile Smith Rowe scored for Fulham, securing a point. However, Silva expressed his dissatisfaction with the VAR’s decisions during his post-game interview with the BBC.
Silva stated, “I would like to provide a comprehensive explanation of the VAR decisions this afternoon, including the penalty awarded in the first half, but I am unable to do so.”
“I am unable to do so because they were distinct in numerous respects.” They were astounded to witness two infractions occurring simultaneously: Shaw’s foul on Rodrigo and Bassey’s foul on Mount. The Bassey foul occurred half a second prior to the Shaw foul on Muniz.
“Subsequently, the United goal.” I am of the opinion that the event I witnessed was witnessed by all individuals in the stadium, as well as by individuals worldwide. One player forced the other to head the ball while two players were isolated at a corner. You are aware of the outcome if you adhere to the regulations.
“I would prefer that those types of decisions remain consistent.” It is as simple as that.”
Silva responded, “I am pleased with the reaction, pleased with the way we came back in the second half after a goal that should have been disallowed,” when asked if he was satisfied with a point.
“I am pleased with the manner in which we concluded the game, the manner in which the players entered and performed, and the manner in which we once again defended against a significant team such as Manchester United.”
Bassey also responded to the BBC, stating, “The push from Yoro is clear and obvious to me.” He has established an advantage for himself by having two hands in the rear. In the event that no contact is made, I ascend to the position and engage in a physical altercation with him. It is evident that he has prevented me from reaching the object. It should be evident to me that it is a penalty.
Grimsby will be the next opponent for United in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
