Full Manchester United squad revealed vs Manchester City for the FA CUP finals on saturday
Manchester United have departed for what may prove to be Erik ten Hag’s final match in command, the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has named a traveling squad of 22 players for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
United traveled to London for the final on Friday afternoon via rail. Security was unsuccessful in their endeavor to smuggle personnel and players into Stockport Station through the rear entrance. City traveled via Manchester Piccadilly to reach London.
Ten Hag alighted the train last, adhering to what the Dutchman considered to be a superstitious custom. At away events, the United manager is invariably the last to disembark from the team coach.
In contrast to the 65 instances of injury or illness that have caused a United player to miss a game this season, only three players are absent for Saturday’s championship match.
Maguire has been a spectator in all four United finals he has participated in since joining the club in 2019. An ankle ligament injury prevented the 31-year-old from participating in the Europa League final in May 2021, and he was substituted for the League Cup and FA Cup finals the previous year.
Ten Hag may make his final managerial appearance for United due to the assumption that he will be fired following the final. United has declined to comment regarding Ten Hag’s stance.
United triumphed in the League Cup the previous year, but fell to City 2-1 in the FA Cup final. On Friday, at what was potentially his final pre-match press conference at United’s Carrington training complex, Ten Hag made reference to his record in finals.
“It’s all about trophies and we have a huge opportunity to win a trophy,” Ten Hag emphasized. “There have not been many trophies won by this club over the past decade, but we have a chance to win two in the next two years.”
“I desire nothing more than to win each and every contest. I simply concentrate on this game, as I do on every other game, and I am aware that it is crucial because a trophy is at stake.
“An FA Cup final is a momentous occasion, and we are present, even during a season in which we are not performing well. We are presented with an opportunity that has never been simple to seize, but we are determined to do so.
“We must maintain the belief that, similar to how we performed against formidable opponents last season, we will likely put on our finest performance on Saturday.
“I came here to win trophies; my next opportunity is on Saturday; we accomplished this; we earned this opportunity as a group; now we must seize it.”
“I believed we were extremely competitive up until a VAR decision at Old Trafford, which I considered to be a difficult one. Nobody in the room comprehended, and we have not witnessed this type of decision in a penalty situation at that time for the remainder of the season.
“At Etihad, we dominated for seventy minutes; we had chances to score a second goal, but they were able to substitute; we had no reserve, which makes a significant difference.
“On Saturday, we will have a bench and a much stronger side.”
Varane, Martinez, Evans, Kambwala, Lindelof, Casemiro, Mainoo, Eriksen, McTominay, Amrabat, Mount, Fernandes, Amad, Antony, Garnacho, Rashford, and Hojlund comprise the United squad.
