Gerard Martin: 5.5, Sergi Dominguez: 4.5 Player ratings: Osasuna 4-2 Barcelona
5 for Inaki Pena
The young star from Barcelona’s home country gave up two goals in 45 minutes against the Pamplona-based team in his first real test as a player for the club.
He couldn’t have done anything about the first goal, but he committed a little too much to the second and stepped too far out of his goal.
He gave up two more goals in the second half, but there wasn’t much he could have done about either one.
5.5 for Gerard Martin
The young star came in to play left back in place of Alejandro Balde, but he had a hard time keeping up with Osasuna’s attack in the first half.
Against Pablo Ibanez and Ruben Garcia, he was often caught up in the Osasuna attack and wasn’t very good at defense.
Another part of his game that let him down at El Sadar was his passing. He often gave the ball away when he wasn’t under any pressure.
6 for Pau Cubarsi
The young player had to lead a substitute defense against one of the best teams in La Liga, but he had trouble keeping up with Sergi Dominguez.
Did a good job as an individual and with his spread, but he failed because he couldn’t handle Osasuna’s counterattacks.
4.5 for Sergi Dominguez
The young player was put in the starting lineup to give Inigo Martinez a break. He played in a very high line with Cubarsi and Osasuna’s passes often opened up the defense. More work to do on defense than Cubarsi, but some of his passes were shaky.
Late in the game, they gave up a penalty that helped the other team end the game and get out of sight.
Jules Kounde: 7
The French defense wasn’t up to the ridiculously high standards he had set for himself, and it was hard for him to attack in the Osasuna area. Bryan Zaragoza put a lot of pressure on him in defense, and he couldn’t keep control of his side in the first half.
After the break, he was much better. He made some key saves and pushed forward in attack, which worked well.
Pedri: 8.
Since he was named captain, the midfield superstar had a lot of duty on the field. Unfortunately, the team played badly in the first half, but Pedri stood out.
The Canary Islander was in the spotlight again as part of the double pivot, but he did a great job of getting out of trouble and getting into space every time. He was so close to setting up Torres for a great goal on his own early in the game.
7.5 for Eric Garcia
The academy graduate put on a good show. He won all of his ground battles and 87% of his passes, and he blocked Osasuna’s charges like a strong wall.
Because of where he was placed, the Spaniard was involved in most of Barcelona’s opening play. He even planned the play with Pedri.
Pablo Torre: 7
The young player who started in the middle of the field behind the goal did a great job. Was very important in the attack building phase and helped the team deal with Osasuna’s pressure, especially in the first half.
After the break, he played some great combination football with Lewandowski and Torres, which helped create some good chances before he was taken off.
6.5 for Pau Victor
Victor’s first full game wasn’t memorable at all; he didn’t do much to help Barcelona’s attack in the first half.
Even though he started on the side, he only had three completed dribbles and no finished shots. He also didn’t add any depth.
Scored a lucky goal from long range with a weak shot that caught the Osasuna goalie off guard before the hour mark.
Robert Lewandowski: 6 points
In the first half, the Pole didn’t get many chances to play because Barcelona was still getting used to all the changes. Was a lot more exciting in the second half, when the team started to work together.
Were given a huge chance in the 51st minute but failed to finish.
6 for Ferran Torres
The Spaniard had a terrible first half, especially since he was meant to be one of the more experienced and senior players on the field.
The former Manchester City star’s movement and passing against Osasuna were not impressive, and his first touch was so bad that he often let the team down and stopped attacks that looked like they had potential.
Given a pass for Yamal’s late goal.
8 for Lamine Yamal
He came on as a replacement in the second half and scored a beautiful goal from far away in the 88th minute. It was a little too late to make a return, though.
7.5 for Raphinha
He came on for the last 40 minutes and did a good job of running Barcelona’s play from behind the goal. In that short time, he made four important passes.
