Manchester City
‘Her we go’: Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest transfer news on the 33-year-old midfielder Ilkay Gundogan’s move back to Manchester City ahead of the deadline
It has been said that Manchester City wants to add players to their team in two different parts of the field.
A report from The Athletic says that City wants to sign backups for Rodri and Erling Haaland during the summer transfer window.
The story does say that Pep Guardiola’s team wants to sign a midfielder and a striker who will bring experience to the team, won’t cost a lot of money, and won’t be expected to play every week.
Of all the players in the world, most of them would probably dread having to work under Rodri or Haaland.
Any player in Europe would love to move to the Etihad Stadium, so they would want to play as many minutes as possible to show off their skills at the top level.
Because of this, it might have been hard for Manchester City to find a player to fill in the gaps in their team.
He tells us what he knows about Man City and a “underrated” star.
But City will have to step up their efforts because time is running out as the summer transfer window closes.
In the end, their competitors in England and around Europe will not be happy with how things are going.
To stay ahead of the other teams, the Sky Blues need to make sure their summer work keeps them busy.
Manchester City’s move for Ilkay Gundogan could make sure that happens.
The much-talked-about rumors about Gundogan and his return to City have been boosted by Fabrizio Romano’s famous catchphrase, “Here We Go.”
Romano says that the English giants have agreed to sign the German player for free in the last 48 hours, after having “positive talks.”
Rodri said at the PFA awards on Tuesday that Gundogan was “underrated.” Gundogan is now likely to sign a one-year deal with Manchester City that runs until June 2025.
It’s possible that Ilkay Gundogan will give Man City the edge over Arsenal.
Guardiola said that Arsenal is City’s top title rival, but he also named Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Aston Villa as other Premier League teams that City has to worry about.
Gundogan is likely to return to Manchester City, which gives them an edge over Mikel Arteta’s team in the race for the prized title.
The 33-year-old was an important part of the Sky Blues team that beat Arsenal to win the title in 2022–2023.
This Manchester City team is even better because Gundogan can fill in for Rodri as a number six and play in all three midfield positions. This should be a worry for Chelsea.
The Barcelona superstar’s experience, ability to step up when things get tough, flexibility, leadership, and most importantly, winning experience are all huge pluses for City’s team, which Arsenal’s young squad lacks.
Before Gundogan’s possible arrival, Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta’s teams’ title chances were tied. But Gundogan’s arrival might have tipped the scales in favor of the current winners.
