According to Manchester WORLD, Manchester United has reached an agreement to loan goalkeeper Elyh Harrison to League Two club Shrewsbury Town for the 2025/26 season.
He is expected to become the sixth teenager to depart on loan this summer, following Joe Hugill, Habeeb Ogunneye, Sonny Aljofree, Enzo Kana-Biyik, and Dan Gore.
Last season, Shrewsbury was relegated from League One. This summer, they have already bolstered their squad by signing Sam Clucas, Tom Anderson, and Sam Stubbs.
Harrison will now be a part of their goalkeeping team, where he will compete for a starting position with Toby Savin.
Harrison has made frequent appearances for the U18s and U21s since joining United from Stevenage in 2022.
He was awarded the Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Season award during the 2023/24 campaign, which was his most successful season at the academy.
For the first time last season, Harrison departed United on loan to acquire first-team experience, joining Chester in the National League.
Calum McIntyre, the manager, praised him as a goalkeeper with “immense ability” after he appeared in 18 games, conceded 16 goals, and maintained seven clean sheets.
Nevertheless, United recalled him in January to complete the remainder of the season by training with the first team and playing for the academy.
Harrison then reclaimed his position as the U21s’ primary goalkeeper and was subsequently appointed to the bench for six Premier League matches and two Europa League games.
It was suggested that he was on the brink of departing the club again when he was excluded from the 30-man squad for the pre-season fixture against Leeds United on Saturday.
The 19-year-old will now endeavor to accumulate sufficient playing time at Shrewsbury in order to acquire valuable experience, which could facilitate his transition to the first team of United.
