How 26-year-old Newcastle United F.C. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes can avoid a three-match ban for the start of next season

Due to the fact that Bruno Guimaraes was able to avoid receiving a ticket against Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United will not be subject to any additional yellow card sanctions during this season.

There are no players on Newcastle United’s roster who are in danger of being suspended as the club prepares to compete in the final six matches of the Premier League season.

After receiving nine and eight Premier League bookings, respectively, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon had been walking a razor’s edge in terms of their disciplinary responsibilities for some months. After receiving his ninth yellow card of the season as a result of his performance against Manchester City in January, Guimaraes was required to go eleven games without receiving a caution.

He was able to accomplish this by avoiding a yellow card in his most recent Premier League match, which was against Tottenham Hotspur. This allowed him to cross the 32-game mark. A two-match suspension is handed out to any player who receives ten bookings prior to and including the 32nd league match of a club’s tournament.

Guimaraes, Gordon, and Kieran Trippier were all given one-match suspensions earlier in the season for receiving five bookings inside the first 19 league matches that Newcastle played. Kieran Trippier was also given a red card. During the match against West Ham United, which was won by a score of 4-3, Gordon discovered a loophole that allowed him to avoid receiving a second suspension.

Gordon was issued his ninth yellow card of the season during the encounter. This means that he would have to avoid receiving another yellow card in Newcastle’s next three games, which are against Everton, Fulham, and Spurs, or else he would be subject to a ban that would last for two. Rather than that, the winger was shown a second yellow card and was subsequently dismissed from the game against The Hammers.

He was given a one-match suspension, which he served against Everton; however, as a consequence of this, his yellow card total went back down to eight.

The new rule states that a player will receive a three-match suspension if they receive 15 yellow cards by the conclusion of the season. This suspension can be carried over into the following season. In the history of the Premier League, there has never been a single player who has received more than 14 yellow cards in only one season.

In order to beat that record, Guimaraes would have to receive a booking in each and every one of Newcastle’s remaining matches. If he did not do so, he would be subject to a three-match suspension beginning with the start of the next season.

A player who receives twenty bookings in the course of a single season will be subject to a misconduct charge and will most likely face a prolonged suspension, as stipulated by the rules of the Football Association.

Other than Gordon, no other player for Newcastle has had more than five bookings so far this season. Gordon is the only player to have been sent off before this point.

When Newcastle next takes the field, they will be traveling to Crystal Palace on April 24 at 8:00 p.m., with the goal of achieving their third consecutive league victory.
