How the new premier league rule might limit the performance of Newcastle United FC this season 2024-25 revealed
Newcastle and their top-tier competitors will be required to adhere to a new set of regulations that the Premier League has implemented.
Eddie Howe and Newcastle United are preparing for another European campaign this season, with the new Premier League campaign just a few days away. Last season, the Magpies made their return to the Champions League after a two-decade absence. However, they were unable to participate in European football, despite finishing in seventh place.
The Toon will be looking to put that disappointment behind them and, similar to 2022/23, force their way back into the top-four this season due to their more favorable fixture schedule. Howe’s team will not be required to coordinate midweek European games, in contrast to their Premier League opponents who are also striving for European success.
The Premier League introduces a new set of regulations with each new campaign. In recent years, the number of substitutions has increased from three to five, and VAR has been implemented.
During the campaign, it is anticipated that rule changes will be implemented. One such change is the introduction of semi-automatic offsides, which will not be implemented until after one of the first international breaks.
Consequently, modifications to the regulations regarding the additional time will be implemented this weekend. In an effort to combat time-wasting, significant minutes were tacked onto the close of games during the previous season.
Goal celebrations will be treated differently in the forthcoming campaign to address this issue. After a goal is scored, teams will be permitted to reposition themselves for a period of 30 seconds. Any time that exceeds this limit will be incorporated into the additional time by the officials.
