Albert Stuivenberg: “I am very angry with him at the moment, and if I were the manager, I would have suspended him by now.” One Arsenal player made him angry yesterday with an unobserved action. Arsenal’s inability to generate numerous clear-cut opportunities during their 2-0 Premier League loss to Bournemouth on Saturday was not unexpected. In reality, the most promising opportunity of the game was generated by Kepa Arrizabalaga, who provided a pass to Mikel Merino, who in turn assisted Gabriel Martinelli in a critical moment. This was their first loss of the season. Mikel Merino, who began in a comparable capacity for Spain during the international break, was selected by Arteta in lieu of Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard. The distinction was that Fabian Ruiz was also present in the midfield, which undoubtedly facilitated La Roja’s progression. Arsenal’s midfield may have performed admirably with Declan Rice and Thomas Partey, who were exceptional; however, they lack the same level of directness and incisiveness that Odegaard and Saka contribute to the team. The attack was further impeded by the substitution of Jakub Kiwior for Raheem Sterling, which was a necessity in light of William Saliba’s dismissal. However, it was not until the very end of the game that Ethan Nwaneri entered the field, and his manner and verve once again left observers contemplating what might have been. The teenager has demonstrated exceptional performance in both his reserve and starting roles during the League Cup match against Bolton. It appeared as though Southampton had overlooked an opportunity to introduce Nwaneri prior to the international break. The manner in which they conducted themselves during that match and this one on Saturday evening reinforced this sentiment. Arsenal is scheduled to face Liverpool in the upcoming league match, and it would be a significant decision to include Nwaneri in that match. However, Shakhtar Donetsk, who have struggled in Europe thus far, have a home match beforehand. This may be the location where the trial to commence Nwaneri is well-established. Another factor to take into account is Oleksandr Zinchenko’s return to fitness. Although the Ukrainian has defensive limitations, he does provide a significant amount of value in the offensive sector, particularly through his progressive distributing. Arsenal will, however, be optimistic that Jurrien Timber will be able to overcome his current challenges, allowing Ben White to assume the responsibilities of the suspended William Saliba. The Cherries were perceived as one of the more contextually straightforward exams this month, and the upcoming weeks will emphasize the importance of creativity, or its absence. A genuine challenge is imminent.
