Celtic
I believe that an acquisition could restore Rangers to their former glory and dethrone Celtic from their place of prominence. – Barry Ferguson
I am making every effort to remain composed. However, it is a challenging task. I have been under the impression that this may be the opportunity to restore the Rangers to their former glory since the
Daily Record first reported on the San Francisco 49ers and a potential Ibrox takeover. As previously stated, the United States has yet to finalise this agreement. It is entirely reasonable to harbour some degree of apprehension until the agreement is finalised, as these matters are never resolved until they are.
However, I have been investigating the potential implications for my former club over the past 24 hours, and I must confess, I am enthusiastic. This does not appear to be a hypothetical situation. It has the appearance of authenticity, and anyone who has any association with Rangers is aware that it is precisely what the establishment has been yearning for.
We are all aware that there is a need for new investment. It is exceedingly evident. We have just witnessed our team being eliminated from the Scottish Cup at home by Queen’s Park. Subsequently, we have seen Celtic come within seconds of defeating Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
I am unable to recall a week that encapsulated the extent of the gap between the two organisations. Does it seem a tad too good to be true? Certainly. This is the reason I am remaining circumspect and waiting to observe the outcome from this vantage point. The last thing we require is for the entire endeavour to collapse and for us to find ourselves back at the beginning.
However, all indications suggest that these discussions have been ongoing for an extended period of time. No, this did not transpire overnight. It appears that the American consortium has been communicating with individuals at Rangers since December, indicating that this matter has been in the works for a few months.
