The Detroit Lions are preparing for their second NFL season following their victory in the 2024 NFC North championship.
The team has recently received some unfortunate injury news prior to the commencement of the 2025 season.
On Thursday, Lions head coach Dan Campbell disclosed that third-year tight end Sam LaPorta has sustained an undisclosed injury. The 24-year-old pass catcher is anticipated to miss at least a few days due to the injury, which is not classified as “major.”
“LaPorta will be unavailable.” “It is not a significant issue, but he will be absent for a brief period,” Campbell stated prior to the Lions’ second joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday.
One individual composed, “I am not fond of this.”
Another individual commented, “He appears to be susceptible to injury.”
Another individual stated, “This team is cursed; had it not been for the injuries last year, they would have won the Super Bowl.”
“Refrain from reacting excessively.” “Please ensure that you are prepared for Week 1,” another individual wrote.
In 2023, LaPorta emerged as an exceptional tight end weapon in the NFL, accumulating 86 receptions for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns during his rookie season with the Lions. In Year 2, his record-breaking statistics regressed, as he amassed 60 receptions for 726 yards and seven touchdowns.
On Saturday afternoon, the Lions will engage in their subsequent preseason game against the Dolphins. The Green Bay Packers will serve as the team’s inaugural opponent on September 7.
