“I want to thank you for! – Trent Alexander-Arnold sends out his farewell message to fans after ahead of his exit from Anfield
Trent Alexander-Arnold, the Liverpool defender, has made a single-word response to Andy Robertson’s heartfelt farewell. In anticipation of his departure from the Reds squad this summer, the Scotland captain was the first to compose a farewell message for the departing full-back.
On Sunday, the 26-year-old will become a two-time Premier League-winning defender upon the conclusion of the Reds’ match against Crystal Palace. In a dress rehearsal for the Community Shield in August, the FA Cup champions journey to Anfield to conclude a remarkable campaign for Liverpool and Arne Slot.
But the match also serves as Alexander-Arnold’s penultimate match, as he will depart Liverpool upon the expiration of his contract in June.
Alexander-Arnold shared the post from his teammate on his Instagram story and responded with the following, “Wingmen (red heart emoji).”
It follows their flourishing partnership during the Reds’ ascent under Jurgen Klopp, during which the duo provided vital assists during the German’s tenure.
Robertson and Alexander-Arnold both redefined the history of full-backs by setting new benchmarks for assists from their position.
With the England international’s departure imminent, Robertson composed an emotional letter to a player whom he had previously referred to as one of his closest companions.
“Oh, my brother, where do I even begin?” Robertson wrote on Wednesday afternoon, “It has been an absolute privilege to witness your journey from a boy to a man over the past eight years.”
“Throughout your journey, you have achieved unparalleled success and cultivated unforgettable memories.”
The bar you set was so high that I was compelled to follow, and I am grateful for your constant encouragement to challenge me to new limits.
“You will be extremely missed on the pitch and at the training ground.”
“I hope that the hard work, moments, and significant contribution you have made to this club are acknowledged as they deserve. Wingmen, one final time.”
During the penultimate home league game against Arsenal, Alexander-Arnold was subjected to booing and jeers from sections of Anfield, as the fanbase has been divided by the reaction to his imminent exit.
As a consequence, the reaction of the Liverpool supporters incited fury in certain segments of the media, including Jamie Carragher, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the events.
