IAN WRIGHT ADVISES THAT THREE WORLD-CLASS PLAYERS MAY CONSIDER LEAVING ARSENAL THIS SUMMER
IAN WRIGHT ADVISES THAT THREE WORLD-CLASS PLAYERS MAY CONSIDER LEAVING ARSENAL THIS SUMMER The club’s hierarchy has been advised by Arsenal legend Ian Wright that three world-class players may contemplate departing if the team fails to strengthen sufficiently during the summer transfer window.
In the previous two seasons, the Gunners have emerged as the Premier League runners-up to Manchester City. They are unlikely to mount a late title challenge this season. Following Arsenal’s 1-0 loss to West Ham at the Emirates, the league’s leaders, Liverpool, are now 11 points beyond Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta was unable to strengthen his squad in January, despite the injuries of important players such as Saka and Gabriel Jesus, a decision that Wright finds perplexing. The former Arsenal striker conveyed apprehension regarding the club’s lack of urgency in the transfer market during an interview on the Wrighty’s House podcast.
The primary concern I have is that the injuries are beginning to occur. Saka, Jesus, Ødegaard, Saliba, Gabriel, and Ben White—all have sustained injuries at some point. “However, we did not generate any substantial revenue during the summer or January,” Wright stated.
Wright also expresses concern that Arsenal may encounter a contract renewal dilemma comparable to Liverpool’s present circumstances with regard to Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent
Alexander-Arnold. Reports from France have already indicated that Real Madrid is currently monitoring Saliba’s contract status and may pursue him during the summer. CLICK HERE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PRESENT. Join the Arsenal WhatsApp Group Chat Now! “When discussing renewals…”
Wright further stated, “Those discussions regarding Saka, Gabriel, and Saliba will now slow down.” “If I were one of these players, I would wait to see which players Arsenal signs in the summer before making any long-term commitments.” Arsenal’s summer recruitment strategy could be crucial in retaining their best talent, as all three players are under contract until 2027.
Wright emphasised the importance of the club’s decision-makers taking decisive action. “This summer is of the utmost importance.” We are at risk of losing our current performers if the board fails to recruit the appropriate individuals. It is imperative that they execute the task accurately.
