“I’m sorry” – Nigerian former professional footballer Mikel Obi denies claims that he said things about Cristiano Ronaldo after being attacked on social media
Reports saying that Nigerian star John Mikel Obi said that Cristiano Ronaldo is not one of the ten best Premier League players have been debunked.
John Mikel Obi, a famous Nigerian football player, has spoken out after being accused of disrespecting Cristiano Ronaldo’s legacy. He called claims that he said Ronaldo wasn’t one of the best players in the Premier League “fake news.”
In an interview, the former Chelsea midfielder was said to have said that Ronaldo “is not even the top 10 greatest in the Premier League” when Ronaldo was playing for Manchester United and having a great time.
Mikel Obi clarifies what was said about Ronaldo
Fans were furious about the alleged quote, and one even said Mikel was drunk when he said it, as reported by Pulse Sports.
That being said, the Nigerian legend has strongly denied the reports in a message posted on his Instagram account.
“I’m sorry if this comment caused any confusion. We want to make it clear that John Mikel Obi did not say that “Cristiano Ronaldo is not even in the top 10 greatest players in Premier League history.” Mikel wrote in a two-page essay about his stories.
“Ronaldo has done amazing things and made huge impacts to football, both in the Premier League and elsewhere. He is widely considered to be one of the best football players of all time thanks to his excellent skills, many records, and many individual and team awards.
After Mikel’s strong response, an unpleasant incident is over, and one of Nigeria’s all-time greats is spared an unnecessary war of words with a real hero.
