Ipswich Town are showing strong interest in QPR striker Richard Kone as they work to complete a deadline-day transfer, sources have informed Football Insider.
The Suffolk side remain eager to bring in a centre-forward before the window shuts as they aim to strengthen their promotion charge.
Recent underwhelming results against Preston North End and Sheffield United have seen the Tractor Boys slip to fourth place in the table.
Although Ipswich are still tipped for promotion from the Championship, they must rediscover the form they displayed earlier in the month if they want to secure an automatic spot. Football Insider previously reported that the club offered Callum Wilson an 18-month deal during their search for attacking reinforcements, but the 33-year-old now looks set to remain at West Ham.
Adding more firepower appears to be the priority. Ipswich’s success this season has largely been built on defensive solidity, with Kieran McKenna’s side conceding fewer goals than any other Championship team.
However, while their attack has been productive, only Coventry City have scored more goals than Ipswich — and that gap stands at a significant 14 goals.
