“it doesn’t look good” Detroit Lions general manager Dan Campbell explains the latest report on Dan Jackson injury status

The Detroit Lions’ general manager, Brad Holmes, and his team are known for finding hidden gems in the middle to late rounds of the NFL draft. Former Georgia safety Dan Jackson is another player in this year’s draft who could be a steal.

Jackson was picked by the Lions in the seventh round of the NFL draft in April 2025 because he could help their secondary, which has had some problems with lack of depth and versatility.

Lions coach Dan Campbell gave a report on Jackson’s health on Monday, and it was bad news for the great former SEC defender.

“Dan Jackson was put on injured reserve today. I’m just wondering what the outlook is for him and when he will be back,” a reporter asked at a press meeting on Monday.

Campbell replied in a video the Lions shared to X, “Yeah, it doesn’t look good. That’s another one. We’re sending this out to a few more places, but it looks like he’s going to be down for a while.”

For months before he was picked, Holmes and his team had their eyes on Jackson.

Holmes said this past spring, “We’ve always liked Dan Jackson because he’s a strong safety who gets his hands on the ball and does a lot of it above the neck. He’s also faster than a lot of people think.”

Holmes also said this about Jackson’s selection: “He went to the Senior Bowl, so he had a nice little year.” Jackson was picked to play safety in Detroit behind Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch.

He will likely have to wait for a while longer and watch from the stands.
