“It’s a huge, huge” – Newcastle United F.C offically announce thier second summer signing this transfer window as they sign the 37-year-old player
John Ruddy, a goalie, has signed with Newcastle United on a one-year deal.
After being let go by League One team Birmingham City, the 37-year-old player joins Newcastle. As Birmingham was relegated from the Championship in 2023–24, Ruddy played 46 times for them in all categories.
He has a lot of experience because he used to play for England and has played in the Premier League for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, and Everton. Newcastle has added two goalkeepers in the last 24 hours. Odysseas Vlachodimos came from Nottingham Forest and now Ruddy has joined him.
Nick Pope is still the first choice for the new season, while Martin Dubravka’s future is unclear and Mark Gillespie just signed a new one-year deal. After joining Newcastle, Ruddy told the club’s website, “This is a huge club and a huge chance, so I’m really excited to get started.”
“I just couldn’t pass up the chance.” That club is huge and can only go one way. Being a part of it, no matter how small or big, will be very satisfying and exciting.
Newcastle United’s head coach, Eddie Howe, said, “I’m glad to have John join the team.” He can help us and give us the competition we need because he has a lot of experience.
“He’s good on the field, but he’s also a strong person and a leader, which will only help the group.” I’m excited for him to join us as we get ready for the season.
After verbally agreeing to terms with Burnley goalie James Trafford, Newcastle had a £16 million bid turned down. Now they have signed two goalkeepers. It is said that the Championship club is demanding £20 million for the 21-year-old, who joined from Manchester City for £15 million last summer.
