“It’s difficult to leave Celtic.” Matt O’Riley sends out an emotional farewell message after his transfer move to Brighton was finalized this week
According to records, Matt O’Riley left Celtic on Tuesday afternoon.
O’Riley’s move to the Premier League is a big step forward in his career. He had two and a half great years at Celtic, where he became a fan favorite and a key player on the field, especially under Rodgers.
The Danish player, who is 23 years old, said it was hard to leave Celtic and talked about the special bond he had with the club and its fans. The choice to leave wasn’t made quickly. O’Riley was drawn to a new task, but he also says that leaving Celtic was very hard on him emotionally.
When O’Riley thought back on his time in Glasgow, he felt a mix of nostalgia and thanks. He acknowledged that Celtic’s passionate fans and family-like atmosphere had a huge effect on him.
“It’s hard to leave Celtic,” he told Brighton’s YouTube account. A lot of people don’t know how big the club is until they get up there. It’s a real family club, and I was made to feel welcome right away. The people are so passionate there that it’s a one-of-a-kind place that I’ve never been to before.
“I really enjoyed my time there.” I’m still a little upset when I talk about it because I have so many good memories there. It seemed like the right time for me to take on a new task. “All I take with me are happy memories.”
As O’Riley starts this new stage with Brighton, the Celtic fans wish him the best of luck. He always did what he was supposed to do.
