James McFadden provides a brutally honest assessment of Celtic’s main player, stating that they are “way off it.” Is this too harsh? James McFadden, a Scottish legend, believes that Adam Idah was not close to the caliber that Celtic needed to compete against Dundee United.

This is despite the fact that the Irish striker scored two goals as Celtic romped to the Premiership title, despite coming off the bench for the injured Jota in the first-half. Idah was compelled to accept a position on the Tannadice bench, as manager Brendan Rodgers chose

Daizen Maeda to play in the center, Jota to play on the left, and Nicolas Kuhn to play on the right. Nevertheless, Jota sustained a severe knee injury during the first half, necessitating that Rodgers introduce Idah. He subsequently scored two goals, but McFadden was dissatisfied with Idah’s performance. In the most recent episode of the Open Goal podcast, McFadden stated,

“I believed his touch was significantly off, but he scored two goals, and that is a fact that is difficult to dispute.” Nevertheless, I believe that his inclusion in the team was a significant asset to Celtic. “I anticipate that he (Rodgers) will deploy him (Idah) against the Rangers.” Despite my belief that his hold-up play could have been more organized, he remains physically active and enjoys reaching his feet to attempt to connect.

“Therefore, it is a distinct issue.” And if the Rangers subsequently commit to a full press, there should be sufficient space to bring it in (to Idah).McFadden’s remarks regarding Idah are excessively critical. It is reasonable to assert that Idah appeared somewhat unsteady upon replacing Jota after 35 minutes; however,

he had only recently emerged from the bench. Idah should be granted some leeway solely for this reason. Combined with the reality that Rodgers does not consistently allocate playing time to the Irishman, it is possible to argue that McFadden’s criticism is excessively harsh. It enabled Daizen Maeda to make two exceptional assists on the left flank, and Idah scored twice.

What additional actions does the individual have at his disposal? There is no denying that Idah’s decision-making and hold-up and link-up play can be somewhat messy. However, it is impossible to proceed with excessive criticism when the individual scores twice within 90 minutes of the game. Consequently,

I day deserving of a starting position against Rangers, as it would enable Celtic to overcome the Ibrox team’s press, which has succeeded in their previous two Glasgow derbies. The Open Goal pundit did modify his remarks by stating that Celtic’s focal point was Idah, which facilitated their 5-0 victory.
