In a candid interview, Jobe Bellingham acknowledges his “anxieties and fears” in response to critics of Borussia Dortmund’s decision. In the days following his transfer from Sunderland to Borussia Dortmund, Jobe Bellingham has responded candidly to those who have criticised his decision.
After a successful stint in the Championship, the 19-year-old midfielder has signed a long-term contract with Dortmund, following in the footsteps of his brother, Jude. Bellingham is rumoured to have garnered a club record fee of £26.9 million, in addition to £4.2 million in add-ons, after playing a critical role for Sunderland in their promotion-winning campaign.
In Dortmund’s goalless draw with Fluminense during the Club World Cup, the teenager made his highly anticipated debut, which prompted a flurry of discussion regarding his relocation to Germany. In a recent interview with DAZN, Bellingham clarified his apprehensions about joining Dortmund in the past, stating that he was cognisant of the family connection and the way it appeared.
In summary, he desired to be his own man rather than be in the shadow of his brother, who joined Real Madrid from the German club in the summer of 2023 for an initial £88.5 million.”I may have been biassed against Dortmund for an extended period of time due to my anxieties and fears, and I am a self-sufficient individual.
However, I do not believe that these factors should prevent me from making the correct decision.” Consequently, for me, the decision was to select the appropriate course, rather than an alternative one. I am of the opinion that my journey has been entirely distinct from Jude’s. However, it implied that if the correct course of
action involved joining Borussia Dortmund, as many of the top youth players, including my brother and me, have done, why would I hesitate to do so? It would be a grave error to sign with another club solely based on the fact that Jude has previously played for this organisation and the experience was not favourable. He further stated, “Risks are present on both sides.”
“Each club has its advantages and disadvantages.” I did have a significant amount of time to contemplate the matter. I am aware that both the supporters and I were impatient. However, my mind and my emotions are the only things that matter. In the final analysis, my perspective is the sole factor that matters. So, that is the option I selected.
The Borussia Dortmund dressing room has disclosed their opinions of Jobe Bellingham following his debut at the Club World Cup. According to Julian Brandt, Bellingham’s teammate, the 19-year-old has already made a significant impact on the Borussia Dortmund dressing room. Brandt disclosed that Bellingham is “obsessed” with improvement.
