JUST-IN: The 2nd yearly Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Love Moto Stop Cancer Golf Tournament brought in more over $130,000 in donations
On Saturday, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC held the second Love Moto Stop Cancer Golf Tournament at Old Mill Golf Course. The event raised more than $130,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Jeremy McGrath, Justin Brayton, Adam Cianciarulo, Broc Glover, Jordon Smith, Kyle Chisholm, Shane McElrath, Cade Clason, Josh Cartwright, Kevin Moranz, Drew Adams, Grant Harlan, and other famous Supercross athletes and people working in the industry, along with 148 other players, started in a shotgun fashion on the beautiful links.
Sponsors for the holes came from companies that work with Supercross teams, like Rocky Mountain ATV/MC, Monster Energy, Yamaha, Triumph, Fastway, Fire Power, Honda, KTM, Leatt, Maxxis, FLY Racing, Alpinestars, Feld Motor Sports, Seven, Melin, Michelin, Dunlop, Dirt Tricks, Acerbis, and POD. It was a close race through 18 holes, but the team of Dan Truman, Drew Adams, Dan Brown, and Jeff Rittmer won. Grant Harlan, Mina Hami, Josh Cartwright, and Simon Cagle came in second place. The winners of the 2024 event, Jeremy Coker, Danny Dobey, Jordon Smith, and Chuck Smith, came in third. The day ended with a Give-to-Live donation chance and a live auction that raised more than $52,000. The auction included gifts from friends of St. Jude (a trip for four to Tuscany), Monster Energy, Alpinestars, Jackson Guitars, and others.
The second annual Kickstart for a Cause national contest was put on by Ken Roczen and the Pipes Motorsports Group. It raised a record-breaking $200,000 over the course of the season, and Ken’s race bike was given to the winner. Ken called the winner this morning and told him the good news in a surprise call. Today is the final round of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship at Salt Lake City’s Rice-Eccles Stadium. Ken will not be racing, but a cheque will be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his honour. Roczen is a big fan of St. Jude and has also given a lot of important things to the Supercross Love Moto Stop Cancer auction. “We want to thank everyone who worked hard to help us raise this huge amount of money.” There is a huge difference that this will make in the lives of the kids and their families, and every little bit helps. After having kids, you see this in a different light, and no family should have to go through it. Thank you to St. Jude and other groups like it for making such a huge difference. These are Courtney and Ken Roczen.
The yearly Supercross Love Moto Stop Cancer St. Jude sale will end on Monday, May 12 at 8 p.m. Eastern, after the last round in Salt Lake City. Over 250 one-of-a-kind items have been kindly donated by the sport’s best athletes, teams, and business partners for this year’s auction. There are autographed bike plastics, goggles, gloves, and race-worn gear sets up for sale. These were made with artwork inspired by St. Jude patients for the Love Moto Stop Cancer race that happened earlier this season at Round 9 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Along with giving money, fans can become a partner in hope through the Supercross Love Moto Stop Cancer text-to-donate program, which runs all season. People who want to show their support can text SUPER to 785-833 and get a free Love Moto Stop Cancer SMX t-shirt.
When partnerships like these help raise money, St. Jude never sends bills to families for things like care, travel, housing, or food. This lets the families focus on helping their child stay alive. Supercross is the only group outside of country music that has its own community-wide motto, which is “Love Moto Stop Cancer.” Moto is short for “motocross,” which adds to the fun of both “motocross” and “supercross.” Donors who give $19 or more a month get a special Love Moto Stop Cancer T-shirt that all of the sport’s best athletes wear all the time.
