Kasper Schmeichel explains his responsibilities at Celtic following an impressive performance against Hibernian.
Kasper Schmeichel has responded following his outstanding performance during Celtic’s victory over Hibernian this afternoon.
Notwithstanding the contributions of Arne Engels, an own goal by Joe Newell, and a moment of ingenuity from Kyogo Furuhashi that ultimately determined the final score, the Denmark international played a crucial role in securing three points.
Kasper Schmeichel discusses his responsibilities at Celtic. In an interview with Celtic TV, Schmeichel asserted that he never assumes a passive role while positioned in goal for Celtic; rather, he remains vigilant and prepared to assist his team during the build-up play or through his adept handling of the ball.
He articulated, “I have unequivocally not assumed the role of a mere observer.”
The role of the goalkeeper has undergone significant evolution, resulting in a marked decrease in the frequency of matches characterized by a high volume of saves. Contemporary practices predominantly involve the utilization of one’s feet.Subsequently, he remarked,
“The primary focus is on achieving victory.” While freshly laundered linens are certainly pleasant, they do not constitute the foremost priority.
It is not catastrophic if it does not occur. It consistently provides you with an opportunity to succeed.
My responsibility is to ensure that my team remains competitive, while it is the duty of the outfield players to conclude the match effectively. Celtic is now anticipating the forthcoming challenge presented by Dinamo Zagreb.
With Hibernian now accounted for, the importance of the upcoming matches remains undiminished for Celtic as they prepare to confront Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
A victory in Croatia will ensure advancement to the quarterfinal round, thereby fulfilling one of Rodgers’ primary objectives prior to the conclusion of the calendar year.
It is hoped that all individuals can persevere following yet another domestic victory, as the Hoops aim to secure success on the continental stage.
