Keith Jackson reveals Andrew Cavenagh’s stance on Danny Röhl amid Rangers F.C. sack speculation

Keith Jackson has moved to cool speculation surrounding Danny Rohl’s future at Rangers, insisting the German manager is not under immediate threat of the sack even if the club ends the campaign without silverware.

The Ibrox side remain firmly in the hunt on two fronts this season. They have reached the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup and continue to push in the Scottish Premiership title race, sitting six points behind leaders Hearts. Celtic are also still in contention as they sit one point ahead of Rangers, while Motherwell remain outsiders but cannot be completely ruled out as they trail the Gers by four points with a game in hand.

According to the Daily Record journalist, it would take something truly disastrous in the closing weeks of the season for Rohl to lose his job. Jackson believes the Rangers hierarchy remain firmly behind the manager and have been encouraged by the progress made under his leadership.

He claims influential figures within the club, including Andrew Cavenagh, have been impressed with Rohl’s work since taking charge. There is a growing belief inside the boardroom that the German has improved the team’s overall performances while also overseeing a stronger and more effective recruitment strategy.

Speaking on the Daily Record Hotline, Jackson explained that the board feel the squad now looks stronger and more competitive than it did previously. In fact, he suggested that if Rohl had promised the Rangers hierarchy when he first arrived that the club would still be in the title race by March, they would have happily accepted that scenario without hesitation.

However, doubts have begun to creep in over the last few weeks as Rangers have struggled to show a ruthless edge in key matches. The team’s inability to consistently turn promising performances into victories has left some supporters frustrated and raised questions about whether they can go the distance in the title race.

Jackson believes the only situation that could place Rohl under serious pressure would be a dramatic collapse in the final stages of the season. A heavy defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup quarter-final combined with Rangers losing the Premiership title by more than 10 points could force the board to reconsider their stance.

In that scenario, Cavenagh could reportedly ask senior figures such as Dan Purdy and Fraser Thornton to begin drawing up a shortlist of possible managerial replacements to assess whether a better option is available.

For now, though, Jackson insists Rohl’s position remains extremely secure, with the Rangers hierarchy continuing to back him to guide the club through the remainder of the campaign and finish the season strongly.
