Kim Hellberg has made his move to Middlesbrough F.C., and Adi Viveash has taken up a new job opportunity

As Kim Hellberg’s arrival draws near, reports suggest he has already mapped out major changes to Middlesbrough’s backroom setup — including handing interim boss Adi Viveash a fresh role within the staff.

The Swedish coach has already become a talking point in the Championship after turning down Swansea City at the last moment in favour of Boro, and now heads to Teesside with the responsibility of building on the foundations left by Rob Edwards.

Middlesbrough, who are understood to have paid around £250,000 in compensation to secure Hellberg, will be desperate for him to hit the ground running, though the early days have proven anything but straightforward.

Viveash is set to remain in charge for Saturday’s clash with Oxford United, meaning Hellberg’s first match in the dugout is likely to come against table-topping Coventry City. Should results hold steady before then, a debut win for the new head coach could bring Boro to within a single point of the Championship leaders. All eyes will be on how the 37-year-old shapes his team for that challenge. Hellberg typically operates with a 4-2-3-1 system — a structure Middlesbrough regularly used under Edwards — which should help minimise the adjustment period for the squad.

But the incoming manager isn’t waiting around to implement further changes. Reports indicate he has already kicked off an urgent restructuring of his support staff, which includes allocating a new position to Viveash. The interim coach has fully earned the opportunity after stepping up when Edwards departed, guiding Boro to a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City and providing much-needed stability during the transition. His presence should also help Hellberg settle smoothly into the job.

Hellberg is also set to be joined by an intriguing addition in Selini. The Hammarby assistant, who has worked alongside the Swede for just over a year, appears ready to follow him into the Championship despite being only 31 years old.

Middlesbrough have placed significant faith in Hellberg and his right-hand man, and will now be hoping that their bold gamble pays off in the form of a serious promotion push.
