Klopp to Celtic latest update

Charlie Mulgrew Urges Celtic to Go All Out for Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool legend Jurgen Klopp is currently serving as Red Bull’s Head of Global Soccer after stepping away from management, but former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew believes the club should make a bold move and try to bring him to Parkhead.

Celtic are on the hunt for a new permanent manager following Brendan Rodgers’ shock departure, with Martin O’Neill stepping in as interim boss. Club owner Dermot Desmond is said to be assessing several high-profile names as he considers who will take charge long-term.

Desmond made headlines back in 2016 when he convinced Rodgers, then fresh off his Liverpool stint, to lead the Hoops — a decision that brought huge domestic success, including 11 trophies and two Trebles across Rodgers’ two spells.

Now, despite it being highly unlikely that Klopp would consider a move to Scotland, Mulgrew has urged Celtic to “think big” and make an ambitious pitch for the German icon.

Speaking on The Warm-Up show alongside ex-Rangers players Kris Boyd and Steven Naismith, Mulgrew said:

“Who would you take at Celtic? You’re only dismissing Klopp because you’re scared it could actually happen. Maybe he’ll see it and think, ‘I fancy that!’”

Boyd and Naismith laughed off the idea, calling it unrealistic, with Boyd joking:

“That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard.”

Still, Mulgrew’s comments have sparked debate among fans — should Celtic dream big and make a move for Klopp, or focus on a more realistic target?
