Manchester United has reversed its stance on Kobbie Mainoo’s future after he expressed dissatisfaction with the initial offer of a new contract.

Having been rewarded for his breakthrough into the first-team two years ago, Mainoo, 19, already has a long-term contract with United that is set to expire in 2027, as well as the option of an additional 12 months. However, the Red Devils are presently in negotiations to offer him a more favorable contract.

Chelsea, their Premier League rivals, are reportedly prepared to exploit any potential breakdown in negotiations. The triumvirate, who have had challenging seasons thus far, have been granted lower status than the £52million summer signing Leny Yoro and breakout star Amad.

Consequently, the number of players has been reduced to only two. This leaves Mainoo susceptible to offers, and while United is not actively seeking to dispose of him in light of their financial requirements during the January transfer window, the midfielder’s camp expressed disappointment with their initial proposal.

Mainoo was left dissatisfied upon learning of the club’s new terms, according to the Manchester Evening News. If both parties are unable to reach a resolution, the 19-year-old may terminate his decade-long residency.

Main oo reportedly seeking a weekly salary of £200,000, which is ten times his current salary, according to other sources. This places the club in a precarious situation, as their recent expenditures has put them at risk of violating the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

United will be unable to acquire any players in January until the completion of sales, which resulted in a total cost of £21m for the new manager, Ruben Amorim, who also had to make payments to the dismissed Erik ten Hag.

Amorim responded to a question regarding their intentions for the transfer window last week by stating, “We will make an effort to do something when the window is open.” “However, I believe that we will have additional time to train in the upcoming weeks, and this is the only way we can improve.”

We played numerous games without training; however, we will now have additional room to expand. You can observe that the context is currently more challenging, as we have experienced numerous casualties. Consequently, we must effectively manage all aspects.
