Kris Boyd claims Celtic F.C. star’s Parkhead career is over as he explains key reasons

Kasper Schmeichel may have already played his final match for Celtic F.C., according to Kris Boyd, who believes the veteran goalkeeper’s time at the club is over.

The Denmark international has come under scrutiny after it emerged he had been playing through injury for much of the season. His performances, both domestically and in the Europa League, have been criticised, with some suggesting his decision to continue playing while not fully fit may have cost the team.

Deputy goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo has stepped in during his absence and impressed, strengthening the case that Schmeichel’s role at Parkhead could be finished.

Pundit James McFadden also weighed in, suggesting Schmeichel should have been more transparent about his injury earlier. While acknowledging that players often try to push through pain, he admitted that, in hindsight, the experienced keeper should have either removed himself or been taken out of the team sooner.

Boyd, however, was far more direct in his assessment, bluntly stating that Schmeichel is “finished” at Celtic.

At 39 years old and with his contract set to expire this summer, Schmeichel’s future is already uncertain. Reports suggest his injury could require up to a year to fully recover, potentially taking him into his 40s before a return — making it unclear whether the club would consider offering any form of extension.
