Kris Boyd believes Rangers could see their title hopes slip away unless they fix what he calls a growing problem on the road.
Despite rescuing a point with two late goals in a 2-2 draw against Livingston, Rangers now trail league leaders Hearts by four points. Given Livingston’s struggles at the foot of the table, Boyd views the result as a significant missed opportunity in the title race.
The match at Almondvale marked a third successive away draw for Danny Rohl’s side — a trend Boyd says should set alarm bells ringing.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Boyd said:
“The away form is becoming a real issue for Rohl. Especially with the three away games they’ll have to play after the split. That’s three away games in a row that they’ve picked up three points, and that’s just not good enough.
“Livingston haven’t won since 9 August, and Rangers simply have to be going there and winning.”
Rangers registered 31 shots in West Lothian but failed to turn dominance into victory — something Boyd believes could prove costly as the run-in intensifies.
The post-split fixture list presents a daunting challenge. Having already faced both Hearts and Celtic twice at Ibrox by that stage, Rangers are set for difficult away trips to Tynecastle and Parkhead. They will also likely face one of Motherwell, Hibernian, or Falkirk away to balance the schedule.
With away performances already under scrutiny, Boyd fears that Rangers’ struggles on their travels could ultimately define their season — whether they lift their first league title since 2020-21 or fall short at the final hurdle.
For Rohl, addressing the inconsistency away from Ibrox may now be the single biggest task standing between his side and championship success.
