With another amazing 2-1 win over Athletic Club, Barcelona kept up their great play under Hansi Flick.

Two goals were scored by Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal for Barcelona. They both played very well in the final third and made things hard for the Athletic Club defense.

On Cubarsi and Yamal, Ernesto Valverde
Coach Ernesto Valverde of Athletic Club didn’t hold back when he talked to the media after the loss and praised some of Barcelona’s young players, including Lamine Yamal.

The former Barcelona player even said, “Lamine Yamal,” which is a reference to Lionel Messi. He looks like Messi. Does he surprise me? Not at all. He’s famous for being very good. He can get by anyone with a move.

Valverde also named a young player for Barcelona who messed up his game plan against Flick’s team. The defense Pau Cubarsi was the one who it was.

He said, “We tried to stop Barcelona from playing from the back, but it was almost impossible because Pau Cubarsi didn’t miss a pass.”

Some might say that Cubarsi didn’t play his best last night, since he gave up the penalty that led to Athletic Club’s only goal. He did, however, make 82 passes, which is 93% of the time.

Ernesto Valverde on Hansi Flick
Valverde then talked about Hansi Flick, who plays on the other team, and the way he has changed the way Barcelona plays.

“At the end of the day, the Barcelona style is always clear, but there are big differences between managers.” “Today, it was clear that Flick was playing with two strikers and Raphinha in the middle of the field,” he said.

Valverde did say, though, that Flick’s end did not change the way they played compared to Barcelona’s first game against Valencia.

“Flick didn’t surprise me at all,” she said. The way they played against Valencia was pretty much the same. The only change was that Pedri was put in place of Casado, he said.
