Latest Team Injury News Before the CFL Eastern and Western Finals

The stage is set for the 2025 CFL Division Finals as four teams remain in the hunt for a spot in the 112th Grey Cup — but key injuries could play a major role in shaping both outcomes this weekend.

The Eastern Final will see the Hamilton Tiger-Cats host the Montreal Alouettes at Tim Hortons Field, while the Western Final pits the BC Lions against the Saskatchewan Roughriders in what promises to be another physical showdown in Regina. Here’s a full rundown of the latest injury updates heading into both high-stakes matchups.

🏈 Eastern Final: Hamilton Tiger-Cats vs. Montreal Alouettes

Hamilton Tiger-Cats:
The Ticats enter the Eastern Final with a few fitness concerns but remain largely healthy compared to earlier in the season. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has been cleared to play after missing practice time earlier this week due to a minor shoulder issue. Running back James Butler, who left last weekend’s game briefly with a leg knock, is also expected to suit up.

However, wide receiver Tim White remains a game-time decision due to a hamstring strain. His absence could significantly impact Hamilton’s deep-ball threat. Defensive back Jamal Peters has been ruled out, leaving a gap in the secondary that Montreal’s passing game will look to exploit.

Montreal Alouettes:
The defending Grey Cup champions are also managing a few injury worries. Quarterback Cody Fajardo is good to go after some early-week rest, but offensive tackle Nick Callender is questionable with a knee issue. Linebacker Darnell Sankey, one of Montreal’s defensive anchors, is nursing a rib injury but is expected to play through it.

Receiver Kaion Julien-Grant has been limited in practice and could be a late scratch if he doesn’t pass his fitness test.

🏈 Western Final: BC Lions vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders

BC Lions:
The Lions received a major boost as Vernon Adams Jr. has been cleared to start after leaving the semi-final with an ankle scare. His mobility looked solid in Thursday’s walkthrough, which is a huge relief for BC fans.

Defensive end Mathieu Betts, the CFL’s sack leader, is also battling a sore shoulder but is expected to play. The Lions will, however, be without Lucky Whitehead, who has been ruled out with a groin injury, while Alexander Hollinsremains questionable.

Saskatchewan Roughriders:
The Riders are sweating on the status of quarterback Trevor Harris, who continues to deal with lingering back discomfort. Head coach Corey Mace confirmed Harris will start “unless there’s a setback.” Wideout Shawn Bane Jr. is fully fit again after missing two games, while running back A.J. Ouellette is probable despite a minor hand injury.

On defense, linebacker C.J. Reavis and corner Rolan Milligan are both expected to play through minor knocks as the Riders look to contain Adams and the BC offense.

Final Thoughts

Both Division Finals promise intensity, drama, and a few battered bodies as teams push through the pain barrier for a shot at the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg.

While most of the stars are fit to feature, how well they hold up could make all the difference in deciding who advances to the CFL’s biggest stage.
