The Dallas Cowboys are not currently in the process of actively marketing Micah Parsons; however, the longer the contract extension negotiations persist, the more intrigued supporters become about his future.
The Dallas Cowboys defense has been reliant on Micah Parsons since his arrival at The Star four years ago. There are few players on either side of the ball in the league who have the same tangible impact on the field as Parsons.
It is now time for the defensive star to receive his initial of what is likely to be numerous significant paychecks throughout his career. The Cowboys were not unaware of this development; however, they are evidently not in a hurry to finalize the agreement.
As irritating as it may be, this is normal for the Cowboys. The same scenario transpired last season with Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, with Prescott’s extension not being announced until hours prior to kickoff.
Parsons’ devotion to the Cowboys is beyond dispute. Despite these contractual disputes with the team, he has maintained his proximity to the squad and has only participated in a limited capacity in the mandatory minicamp being held this week.
However, fans will continue to speculate about his future until the ink settles on that piece of paper, which is expected to result in a salary exceeding $40 million annually. This is the reason why Anne Erickson’s most recent proposal at Heavy suggests that he be transferred to the Detroit Lions, an NFC rival.
A second- and fourth-round draft pick would be returned by the Cowboys in this hypothetical agreement.
The capabilities of the league’s most elite offensive lines would be put to the test by the combination of Micah Parsons and rising sensation Aidan Hutchinson. However, it is more probable that this will transpire at the Pro Bowl Games or on a Madden video game.
The argument can be made that a player who is committed to staying in a position, provides leadership, and produces cannot be priced. That reality will not be altered by any amount of wish casting.
However, as Mike Fisher, an insider at CowboysCountry.com, observes, “A 2 and a 4? This is the pinnacle of absurdity.
Jerry Jones, the proprietor and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys, is responsible for modifying the relationship with Parsons’ agent. However, those personal conversations are continuous due to the strong relationship between the player and the owner.
Once more, the Cowboys will likely incur losses as a result of this waiting game; however, there is little evidence to suggest that No. 11 will not be in Dallas’ lineup in the years ahead.
