Latest Transfer Update: Celtic F.C want to sell 24-year-old player Mikey Johnston permanently

Celtic is getting close to the summer transfer window, which means Brendan Rodgers is set to make some big moves.

The Celtic boss will want to add players to his team and get rid of players who aren’t doing much so that he can put the money from their wages back into the first team.

Rodgers quickly sent players out on loan in January, and it’s possible that these players will be sent somewhere else at the end of the season. Except for Bosun Lawal, that is.

And Mikey Johnston is having the best time of his career at West Brom in the English Championship. Hyeokkyu Kwon is having a great time at St. Mirren.

With six goals and an assist, Johnston has become a hot topic of talk down south. His time with Celtic seems to be over, but it has been said that he will have no trouble finding a team to sign him in England after his explosive performance in the West Midlands.

On March 24, Chris Dunlavy wrote in The Football League Paper (print version, page 10) that Celtic want to sell Johnston, but that more teams than just West Brom will be interested in the winger.

Dunlavy said, “Celtic would rather cash in while his stock is high because they got burned by Johnston’s medical history.” What they ask for will depend on who is interested.

“But West Brom won’t be the only team after Johnston if he can keep up his good play until the end of the season and most importantly stay healthy.”

West Brom are sixth in the Championship, only nine points behind the teams that will make the playoffs. The Republic of Ireland winger is expected to stay at the club past the summer if he helps them get to the Premier League.

But because there is so much money in England’s second tier, if Johnston wanted to leave Celtic, there are many teams there that could pay the fee to get rid of him for good.

Celtic fans will not be sad about losing Johnston, but they will all wish him the best of luck as he tries to start a new job outside of Glasgow.
