After an 11-goal Premier League striker was reportedly linked with Newcastle United, Sky Sports delivered a transfer blow to Leeds. Last season, the 24-year-old Brazilian score 11 goals in 36
appearances for Fulham, including a late victor against Newcastle United at St James’ Park in February. Leeds United, a newly-promoted Premier League team, has identified Muniz as a potential addition to their attacking lineup in anticipation of the 2025/26 season. Newcastle has also been cited with an interest in the striker;
however, more on that will be provided later. The interest in Muniz is a result of his respectable campaign for Fulham and the fact that he is entering the final year of his contract. Fulham is not in a hurry to sell this summer, as the Brazilian’s contract includes a one-year extension option. The club has been pursuing other attacking options this past month, including
Muniz’s compatriot Joao Pedro, and the Gazette understands that they did not hold a significant interest in the Brazilian. Brighton & Hove Albion are currently in discussions regarding the possibility of a deal for the 23-year-old forward. As per The Times, an initial proposal of £50 million has been reported; however, it has been rejected. Joao Pedro is valued at approximately £60 million by Brighton.
If Newcastle were to match this valuation, it would be in close proximity to the £63 million record transfer fee paid for Alexander Isak to Real Sociedad in 2022. Since the commencement of Eddie Howe’s tenure at St. James’ Park, Newcastle has been monitoring Joao Pedro and came close to signing him before they made a move for Isak three years ago.
Brighton is amenable to selling the Brazilian player this summer, provided that the price is reasonable.Consequently, Newcastle is optimistic about the prospect of concluding a transaction. In the interim, Nottingham Forest’s initial £45 million bid for Anthony Elanga has been rejected, and there is a lack of confidence in a potential transfer.
