A lot of loan moves were made between Celtic and other teams before the summer transfer window closed at the end of August 2024.

After the January transfer window, the Hoops had as many as 13 players out on loan to either get more practice with the first team or play more regularly because Brendan Rodgers didn’t give them many chances.

The club cut back on all parts of the first-team and academy teams in the summer, so that number is a little lower now for the start of the 2024–25 season.

Because Gustaf Lagerbielke wasn’t needed at Celtic this season, he was told to find a new team in the summer.

The Swedish center back was interested in joining FC Twente right away and has now signed for the rest of the season.

Lagerbielke only played 10 times for the Hoops in his first season in Glasgow after moving there for £3 million from IF Elfsborg.

Alexandro Bernabei (International)

Someone else who was recently signed by Celtic but didn’t make Brendan Rodgers’ plans is Alexandro Bernabei.

He joined the Hoops when Ange Postecoglou was coach, but he hasn’t been able to compete with Greg Taylor for the left back spot on the team.

In March 2024, Bernabei went back to his home country with Internacional. He will stay there on loan until Christmas.

Kwon Hyeok-kyu joined Celtic from Busan IPark last summer, but he hasn’t played in a game yet, which is strange.

It’s clear that Brendan Rodgers doesn’t like the South Korean defensive player, who was on loan at St. Mirren for the second half of last season.

Marco Tilio, an Australian winger who moved to Celtic from Melbourne City in 2023, has had a terrible time in Glasgow.

He has been hurt a lot, and the 23-year-old has only played in two league games for the Hoops so far this season.

He went back to Melbourne City on loan on the last day of the transfer window in January, and the deal was extended in the summer.

Johnny Kenny (Southern Gaels)

Johnny Kenny is still out on loan even though he signed with Celtic permanently from Sligo Rovers in 2022 under Ange Postecoglou.

From the end of that year until January 2023, he played for Shamrock Rovers. Before that, he played for Queen’s Park.

Kenny’s loan deal with Rovers will end in November.

Young center back Dane Murray is highly valued at Celtic. He is now on loan at Queen’s Park for the first time, away from the club.

Callum Davidson, the manager of the Spiders, is already very pleased with Murray. He says the 21-year-old has “enormous potential” to become a great player.

Tobi Oluwayemi (Dunfermline Athletic) As you can see above, Tobi Oluwayemi played on loan for Cork City in 2023 before going to Austrian club Admira Wacker for the following season.

The goalie has been with Celtic since 2019 after leaving Tottenham Hotspur. During preseason, he played with Kasper Schmeichel.

Oluwayemi is now on loan to Dunfermline Athletic of the Scottish Championship for the rest of the season.
