Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson explains the cause why Liverpool lost their match against Nottingham Forest on saturday (0-1)
Because he was angry, the Liverpool goalie was honest about how he thought Nottingham Forest played the game.
Alisson, the goalie for Liverpool, said that Nottingham Forest didn’t try to attack much in Liverpool’s 1-0 win on Saturday and that the loss was “unnecessary.” Arne Slot lost his first game as Reds manager when Callum Hudson-Odoi scored a long-range goal in the 72nd minute.
Liverpool had the ball most of the time and had five shots on goal, but they weren’t as strong as they were in their first three games of the season. Forest won their first game at Anfield since 1969, and Alisson was annoyed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s team’s strategy because it was the first time this season that he gave up a goal.
A 31-year-old player told BBC Sport, “It was a shame. Losing points at home is never good, but our opponent today only wanted to defend and play for the long ball.” “That was too easy for them to get when they scored; our defense was bad.” We weren’t able to make much today because we were tired and didn’t have enough energy.
“Our team lost three points today for no reason.” We didn’t have enough clear chances, and they played great defense; they threw themselves in front of the ball.”
Liverpool finished more than twice as many passes (591) as Forest did, but Forest’s low-block made things hard for them. Manchester City beat Brentford, giving the Blues a three-point lead over the Reds. The Reds’ first Champions League game is on Tuesday in Milan.
Before they went to Italy, Alisson sent a message to his Liverpool teammates about how to focus on defense. He told Sky Sports, “They made changes in the second half, and we didn’t adjust fast enough.”
“There were three counterattacks before we gave up the goal.” That’s why we should defend better then. You need to be more aggressive and protect better in front of your box.”
After the game, Slot was asked how Liverpool would respond to the loss. He said, “I want to see the same energy every single day, after a big win, after a small win, after a draw, after a loss.”
“Tomorrow we need to go back to work and look at what we did well and what we could have done better.” After the game against Manchester United, we knew there were some things we could do better and some things we did well. That will stay the same tomorrow and the next day.
“This game was different from the ones we’ve played so far because the other team played really low.” Our team had a lot of ball control but couldn’t make many plays because of that.
