Livingston assistant coach Bartley heap praises on Celtic’s Callum McGregor performance and fires back at his critics

Celtic haven’t hit the level they hoped for going into Christmas, but late goals have at least brought some needed positivity. Callum McGregor has delivered several of those big moments, including his extra-time strike against Rangers in the League Cup semi-final and his dramatic winner against St Mirren.

Livingston coach Marvin Bartley, speaking on Clyde 1, defended the Celtic captain amid recent criticism.

Having faced Celtic earlier in the season, Bartley insisted McGregor repeatedly steps up when it matters and that, in the end, fans only remember the results—especially if they lead to another title.

With Celtic struggling for inspiration in Paisley, McGregor once again produced a decisive goal to lift the team after another turbulent week in Glasgow.

Bartley added that top players find ways to win even when performances aren’t perfect, stressing that doubts over McGregor’s place in the lineup are unfair given how often he delivers.
