Before they had even kicked a ball in Germany, they received the news that their star striker, Robert Lewandowski, is not expected to play in their first game against Holland. This news dealt a blow to their efforts to advance to the knockout rounds of the competition.
The star player from Barcelona has been listed as one of the substitutes, but it is not anticipated that he would play. On the other hand, Adam Buksa, who is currently leading the line, will be the one to be responsible for putting the ball into the back of the net this afternoon.
Is there a reason why Robert Lewandowski is not now playing for Poland?
Because of a thigh injury, Lewandowski will not be starting for Poland in their match against the Netherlands.
On Monday, the Barcelona star suffered the injury while playing in a friendly match against Turkey, which they won 2-1. He was taken out of the game after 33 minutes.
“Lewandowski suffered a rupture of the biceps femoris muscle, which will prevent him from participating in the first match of the tournament,” Poland stated in a statement.

Up to this point, Lewandowski has participated in five major tournaments for Poland, during which time he has scored seven goals in a total of eighteen appearances on the international stage.
During the previous season, Lewandowski played for Barcelona and scored 26 goals in all competitions in 49 games.
The second match of Poland’s Euro 2024 campaign will take place on June 21, against Austria. The last match of the group stage will take place on June 25, against France.
