John Souttar has committed his future to Rangers after signing a new contract that will keep him at Ibrox until 2027.
The centre-back, who has worn the captain’s armband at times this season, was approaching the end of his previous deal and would have been free to open pre-contract talks with other clubs ahead of the summer. Instead, he has opted to extend his stay in Glasgow by a further year.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Souttar said: “It is an exciting time to be here and to be part of this club, so I am delighted. I understand the privilege of playing here, the expectations that come with it and I’m personally really happy and excited that my future is here.”
Head coach Danny Rohl welcomed the news, adding: “We are delighted John has agreed this new contract with the club.”
The extension provides Rangers with added stability at the back, securing the services of an experienced defender who has become an important figure in the squad.
