After comments surfaced prior to the Liverpool match, Manchester City supporters are demanding that the £180,000-a-week player be appointed captain.

A key player at Manchester City has made some recent comments that have prompted a flurry of reactions from supporters on social media. City have won none of their six previous games in all competitions on the field, losing five and drawing one.

City will engage in their inaugural Premier League encounter of the 2024/25 season against Liverpool at Anfield in their subsequent match.

A prominent member of the squad conveyed a message to the City supporters prior to this significant match.

Ruben Dias issued a rallying cry to the Manchester club’s supporters in the December issue of the official Man City magazine, advising them to “ignore the noise” from external sources regarding the team’s recent performance.

Dias also emphasised that City will be able to return to a more optimistic state if the supporters and players remain united and work together.

As a result, a variety of City supporters on X expressed their reactions to the defender’s statement, with some suggesting that a change in captaincy may be necessary.

Another individual shared a post that echoed this sentiment, stating, “He should be the captain.” Kyle Walker’s identity is a farce.

This supporter asserted that Dias “speaks like a true leader,” while another individual requested that City “immediately make this guy our captain and effective.”Dias is a critical component of the City team.

The £180k-a-week defender, who was acquired from Benfica during the 2020 summer transfer window, has since appeared in 192 matches for Pep Guardiola’s team in all competitions, winning nine trophies.

Currently, Walker serves as the captain of City, despite the fact that Dias is a member of the squad’s leadership group, which includes Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan, and Bernardo Silva.

Dias was recognised as the most exceptional trainer at City by Oscar Bobb in August, as he “never switches off” on the field. Subsequently, John Stones selected Dias to serve as the manager of the current City squad in the future.
