Fabrizio Romano has verified that Man United and Tom Heaton have reached an agreement regarding a new contract.
It was widely anticipated that Heaton, along with Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelof, would depart United at the conclusion of the recently concluded 2024/25 season.
There were even rumors that Heaton and Evans would retire, and they could be offered coaching positions at Old Trafford. Nevertheless, as Evans retired, it became apparent that United was interested in retaining Heaton.
The club’s goalkeeping department is expected to undergo a significant transformation this summer, as there is ambiguity regarding the futures of Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana. Last week, The Peoples Person reported that United and Heaton had reached a verbal agreement regarding a new contract.
Romano has now verified that a comprehensive agreement has been reached, and Heaton will remain at the club for a minimum of one additional year. “Excl: Manchester United agree new deal for 3rd goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who will remain at the club until June 2026,” wrote the Italian journalist on X.
