According to Sky Germany, Manchester United has entered the competition to acquire Hugo Ekitike, the striker of Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 22-year-old, who has four years remaining on his contract, is also believed to be of interest to Liverpool and Chelsea. The conditions of a potential deal for Ekitike are being investigated by United, who are in the market for a striker following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and the prospective signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
Frankfurt is demanding approximately £85m (€100m). According to Sky Sports News, Viktor Gyokeres is one of the players they are interested in for the position, and they have investigated the possibility of a deal for the Sporting striker through intermediaries. The coaching staff at Stade Reims developed a development plan for Hugo Ekitike while he was still an adolescent.
They conducted an analysis of Kylian Mbappe’s performances and subsequently identified two additional players that Ekitike could potentially strive to emulate. Oscar Garcia, the head coach of Reims at the time, stated to Sky Sports, “These were players with similar profiles from teams that were superior to our team, but not at the same distance as Paris Saint-Germain were from us.”
“We pushed him to achieve the same level as the other two strikers.” As the fourth-choice forward, he returned to Reims, but his performance quickly compelled Oscar to reconsider his decision. The two strikers whose level he had been encouraged to target were no longer in his sights shortly thereafter. “He aspired to achieve the same level as Mbappe within months.”
It is a narrative that provides a view into the perspective of the Eintracht Frankfurt forward, who has been associated with a transfer to the Premier League for an extended period. Newcastle was the location in the past. Chelsea and Liverpool are currently being investigated as potential landing sites. Oscar admits, “He was always a talented player; however, some coaches were not fond of him due to his profile and occasionally his character.”
“They believed that he was slightly arrogant.” He consistently aspired to be compared to the most accomplished individuals. Initially, that appeared to be an entirely plausible short-term objective. Ekitike had not scored a goal in France’s highest tier prior to his final season at Reims. He had been on loan at the Danish club Vejle Boldklub for the latter portion of the previous campaign.
