Bernardo Silva is one of the most qualified candidates to provide his opinion on any wide player that Manchester City signs, given his extensive experience playing on the wing.
The winger City acquired in the summer of 2024 was Savinho, who made his professional debut for the club against Manchester United in the FA Community Shield.
Savinho’s social media post, in which he is celebrating his victory over United on penalties, was congratulated by Fernandinho, who wrote, “First of many.”
Pep Guardiola issued a few directives to the 20-year-old prior to his deployment to influence the match on Saturday.
Guardiola praised Savinho after the match, asserting that his precise crossing could assist Erling Haaland in increasing his goal scoring.
Bernardo praises Savinho for his “exceptional speed” following Manchester City’s victory over Manchester United.
Given that the former ESTAC Troyes winger has not yet played for a club of Manchester City’s caliber in his career, his initial few starts could provide a more accurate assessment of his potential performance in the forthcoming season.
Savinho’s debut season at the Etihad Stadium will be intriguing to observe, as it will determine whether he appears the part from the outset, as Jeremy Doku did, or whether he experiences the same difficulties as wingers do under Pep Guardiola.
It appears that the Sky Blues have acquired a top-tier player, regardless of the circumstances surrounding his 2024/2025 campaign.
Bernardo clearly believes so, as he provided a concise account of the player and the character of Savinho following Manchester City’s victory over Manchester United in the Community Shield.
Bernardo stated to the official club media that it was “very quick and very unbalancing.” Additionally, he is a commendable young man who is eager to acquire knowledge and engage in employment. We are so glad he is here at City with us.
The signing of Savinho may result in Bernardo Silva playing less right-wing games.
Savinho appears to be Pep Guardiola’s preferred choice on the right wing, where Bernardo spent a large portion of the last campaign, along with Oscar Bobb.
But now that the Brazilian has joined the team, it appears that the £300,000-per-week player will mostly play in midfield.
Bernardo will probably be happy to see Savinho start on the wing given how highly he regards the player.
Pep Guardiola may decide to switch back to playing the Portuguese international out wide when facing the best teams, especially in the Champions League. That will be interesting to watch.
